ShareClean

How to remove location from photos on iPhone

Photos you take carry hidden metadata, including GPS coordinates, the time and your camera details. Here is how to share a photo without them.

Get ShareClean on the App Store

Option 1: Use the Share Extension in ShareClean

  1. Install ShareClean (free).
  2. In Photos, select a photo and tap Share, then choose ShareClean from the share sheet. You can also open the app and clean several photos at once.
  3. ShareClean removes GPS coordinates and altitude, camera make, model and serial details, lens and shooting data, original timestamps, and Apple, IPTC and other metadata.
  4. Share the cleaned copy. Your original photo is left unchanged.

Option 2: The built-in iOS setting

In Photos, open a photo, tap Share, tap Options at the top, and turn off Location before sending. This removes location only. Other metadata such as camera details and timestamps may remain depending on your choices, which is where ShareClean removes more.

Be aware: removing metadata does not blur faces, street signs or other things visible in the picture itself.
